Boost Juice interview: Perth teen reveals worst job interview, rude question

A Perth teen has outed a popular Aussie franchise for being the worst job interview she’s ever had after the manager humiliated her.

Phoebe Holmes revealed to her 28k TikTok followers the cringe-worthy details of her experience when she applied for a casual job at Boost Juice in 2020.

Ms Holmes had already attended a group interview to which she wore black leggings and a black top – not dissimilar to the uniform worn by Boost Juice employees.

When the manager of her local smoothie franchise called her back for a second interview, she decided to wear something more appropriate for a job interview.

“She kind of just looks me up and down,” Ms Holmes told her followers.

“And she deadass goes: ‘What are you wearing? You’re not ready to work’.”

The teen told the manager that she had been called in for an interview and had not been told that she would be required to work a trial shift that day.

Ms Holmes recalls that the manager appeared put out by the confusion and the interview quickly fell apart.

“She’s asking me what I’m doing after this, no proper interview questions,” Ms Holmes said.

“I just wanted to be like, ‘What is your problem, I know I haven’t done anything wrong, you messed it up, but you’re not going to admit that and blame me’.”

TikTok users commented below the video, sharing their own terrible job interview experiences.

“I was 15 while working at boost and had my bosses wife tell me I needed to wear makeup because customer didn’t want to be served by someone with acne,” one user wrote.

“I interviewed at one and as soon as I said I was 19 she kept laughing throughout the whole interview and bringing up I’m too old to work,” said a second.

A Boost Juice spokesman told the Daily Mail Australia that the company was disappointed to have let Ms Holmes down.

“We genuinely work hard to create positive experiences with potential employees, so it is especially disappointing when we don’t live up to our expectations,” the Boost Juice spokesman said.

“We have many thousands of happy Boosties and will take this as an opportunity to reinforce the importance that everyone should have the same positive experience in our network.”
