George Clooney Confirms That He Gave 14 Of His Closest Friends $1 Million

George Clooney is a great friend to have, a new report from Page Six revealed this week. During a new conversation with GQ Magazine for their Men of the Year issue, George confirmed the rumors that he had given each of his 14 closest friends $1 million back in 2013.

Clooney joked to the outlet that they were all in his will in the case that he was hit by a bus, so wouldn’t it be better for him to give up the money now rather than wait for the bus to come?

As it was previously reported, Rande Gerber said to reporters from MSNBC that Clooney had invited all of them for dinner and presented each one of them with $1 million in cash packed in designer suitcases.

According to Page Six, this was several years before Clooney, Gerber, and their other business partner sold their tequila brand, Casamigos, for $1 billion. The 59-year-old explained to the outlet, GQ, that at the time, he was still single and didn’t have any children.

He claimed it seemed to be much wiser to give all of his friends some of the money rather than hog it all for himself. As most know, George Clooney is now married to Amal Clooney and they have two children together, twins Ella and Alexander, who are twins.

Clooney explained his mindset at the time of his $1 million gifts, claiming how all of his friends had helped him in some form or another while he was struggling to make it big in Hollywood. He claimed, “I’ve slept on their couches when I was broke.”

According to the actor, many of them helped him when he was in need, and he had done the same thing for them when they were all struggling. Regarding the suit-cases, George confirmed he gave it to them in luxurious bags from Tumi, a high-end luggage brand.

As it was noted above, Clooney made a lot of money when he and his friends and business associates sold a tequila brand for $1 billion. Since then, George has said he doesn’t care that much about appearing in another movie again.
