Jennifer Aniston is celebrating the end of summer – in her swimsuit. In one of her latest social media posts the 54-year-old actress flaunts her famously fit figure in a tiny bathing suit while walking on a beach covered in palm trees. "Summertime photo dump," she captioned the post with her 42.9 million followers. How does the actress keep herself looking forever young in her 50s? Celebwell rounded up some of her top health habits.
Jennifer swears by a certain health shake. She recently made it during an interview with Allure, revealing her recipe, which included powders, nuts, ground up things, bananas, "chocolate things," and shavings. "Whoa, I hope you like sweet things," said Aniston. "Cheers."
"It's important," not to hold a grudge Aniston said in the same interview. "It's toxic to have that resentment, that anger. I learned that by watching my mom never let go of it. I remember saying, 'Thank you for showing me what never to be.' So that's what I mean about taking the darker things that happen in our lives, the not-so-happy moments, and trying to find places to honor them because of what they have given to us."
Aniston summed up her approach to fitness in an interview with InStyle. "I had an injury last fall and I was only able to do Pilates, which I absolutely love. But I was missing that kind of sweat when you just go for it," she said. "I'm going back to my 15-15-15, which is a 15-minute spin, elliptical, run. And then just old school: I can chase myself around a gym. I need some kind of movement, even if it's just 10 minutes a day on a trampoline."
Aniston has a famously strict approach to nutrition. "I don't let eating habits get out of control where I need a reset button," she told Yahoo Food. "My general philosophy is to eat healthy. It's pretty clear: eat as much organic fruits and veggies as you can, keep sugar [intake] low, drink tons and tons of water, and get good sleep."
When she does drink, it will be a "margarita — clean, no sugar — or a dirty martini," she explained when asked about favorite drink. "I only have two to three drinks, tops, and I don't do exotic. When someone asks, 'Would you like a cranberry-coconut-cucumber-spiced or hibiscus whatever?' No, I would not. But when I moved into my house, a few people got me tequilas of the month as housewarming gifts. I have a cellar of all kinds of spirits — you could come here and probably order anything you wanted to."
Aniston drinks a whopping 100 ounces of water per day. "But occasionally I just have to have a Diet Coke—there's nothing like it!" According to the Mayo Clinic, hydration is important for a variety of reasons. Water helps get rid of waste through urination, perspiration, and bowel movements, keeps your temperature normal, lubricates and cushions joints, and helps protect sensitive tissues.
Aniston, Chief Creative Officer of Vital Proteins, adds Collagen Peptides to her coffee. "I've always been an advocate for finding wellness from the inside out – and I'm so happy to share the importance of collagen," she revealed. According to the Cleveland Clinic, there are several benefits of drinking coffee in moderation. "It acts on your brain to improve memory, mood, reaction times, and mental function," they say, citing a study finding that caffeine can improve endurance and performance during exercise. It is also antioxidant-rich, can ward off diabetes, prevent neurologic disease, lower cancer risk, and ward off depression, they point out.
