Nikki Bella and Artem Chigvintsev moved really slow at the beginning of their relationship. In the past year, they’ve been moving faster than ever — maybe too fast.
Fresh off her heartbreak from a multi-year relationship with John Cena, Nikki Bella was closed off when it came to the possibility of a romance with her former Dancing With the Stars partner.
Once they did start dating, they took a while to put a title on things. Then traction picked up.
Nikki and Artem went between whether they should move in together to getting engaged and finding out that they were expecting.
In addition to navigating a pregnancy and fostering a relationship in a pandemic, Chigvintsev was faced with a choice to make about returning to a job that previously laid him off without warning.
The strain that these situations can put on a relationship is extreme which is why it’s a smart move for the two to go to couple’s therapy once Artem’s season with Dancing With the Stars is over.

She shared with US Weekly: ‘It’s hard. We have so many ups and downs. It’s been so difficult on our relationship because I need so much from him, but he’s, like, torn between his job that requires so much from him and then us at home.’
She went on to say that she expressed that she needed more attention from him which is something that they worked on.
‘Artem and I have great communication, but it’s been lacking, but that’s something that we’ve been so strong about in our relationship [in the past].’
She also explained what prompted them to make the decision.
‘We’re going to start classes as a couple because we’ve realized that we both feel like we’re not listening to each other. We finally both just said, like, ‘We need to bring someone in to help us so we don’t get [back] into that place.’
