Ryan Reynolds & John Krasinski Plan To Bring Their Real-Life Friendship To The Big Screen

Real-life pals Ryan Reynolds and John Krasinski are teaming up for a new fantasy comedy titled Imaginary Friends, according to a new report. Reynolds will be taking the lead role in the new project and Krasinski will be writing, directing, and starring opposite his 42-year-old bestie.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Paramount beat out other studios like Lionsgate and Sony in a bidding war for the film last week, and they are currently negotiating a distribution deal for the project.

Have you ever wondered what would happen if #Deadpool met Jim Halpert? Or better yet, #JackRyan.

The high-concept story is about a man who can see and talk to people’s imaginary friends, and he becomes friends with many who have been forgotten about. However, when some of those discarded friends start to turn evil and start to take revenge on those who have left them behind, it’s up to Reynolds’ character to save the world and stop them.

This is the second package this month that Reynolds has sold. Before selling this project to Paramount, Apple dropped some serious cash for an updated comedic version of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens that will also be a musical. Reynolds is set to star in the film along with Will Ferrell.

As for Krasinski, the 39-year-old exceeded box office expectations with his directorial debut, 2018’s A Quiet Place, in which he also starred alongside wife, Emily Blunt. The sequel is currently in post-production and is scheduled to be released next year.

Krasinski and Reynolds have demonstrated their fun friendship on social media, with one of their most memorable moments coming late last year when they teamed up to go after Hugh Jackman, who Reynolds has been “feuding” with for years.

Jackman attended an event in November 2018 and he ended up running into Blunt and posting about it on Twitter. The Wolverine star posted a pic of himself with Blunt on the red carpet, and wrote in the caption that he had “the pleasure of chatting with the amazing Emily Blunt.”

Krasinski immediately responded, warning Jackman “Eeeeeeeasy Hugh,” and adding “Not sure this is what @Variety meant with #ActorsonActors. Don’t make me think I can hurt you.”

That’s when Reynolds got involved, writing “This is a call to action. This man must be stopped.”

Ryan Reynolds will soon star in Michael Bay’s Netflix movie 6 Underground, and he will also be the lead in Shawn Levy’s adventure comedy Free Guy. Krasinksi’s sequel to A Quiet Place will hit theaters on March 20, 2020.
