A Self Starter
Meghan Trainor started exploring her love for music from a very young age. When she was six years old, she began singing and was encouraged to pursue music from the age of eleven. In interviews, Meghan Trainor explained that she had no formal musical education, but relied on her father to help her record and mix audio.
When she was thirteen, Meghan Trainor wrote her first song, Give Me A Chance, but the audio for this has never been released. In her mid-teens, Trainor began an aggressive songwriting campaign, and within two years had written, recorded and released three independent albums.

Meghan has attributed her talent to having grown up in a musical family. Her father was a music teacher, and helped his children learn instrumental skills. The family formed a band called Island Fusion, a cover band that performed various different styles of music. In this band, Meghan played guitar, bongos, and piano.
All About Success
In 2013, Meghan Trainor co-wrote the song that would truly propel her into the public eye. There was much debate over whether or not the song would be a success, but this was behind closed doors.
Meghan Trainor co-wrote the song, All About That Bass” with a friend, Kevin Kadish. He claims that they actually wrote the song in their first writing session together, and that it took just an hour. They were dubious as to whether the ‘doo-wop’ style they had composed would be successful, but it most certainly was.
All About That Bass would see incredible success within a short period of it being officially released in 2014. The track reached the number one spot in fifty eight countries worldwide, and spent eight weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100. Within months, the song was certified diamond by the RIAA.
Further, the song became the first (by 2017) to be the first debut single by any artist to gather a total of a billion views on YouTube.
The song went viral and took the world by storm, marking Trainor in the history books as the kind of artist the song portrayed. It established Trainor as headstrong, determined and proud of her appearance, the very message written within the song.
However, as time went on and Meghan Trainor released more music (including a further two albums) nothing would live up to the success of All About That Bass. While it certainly secured her a substantial payday and a few awards, it would eventually pass from popularity, as most wonder tracks often do.
While writing and releasing music, Meghan Trainor also performed in various other roles. She took part in some minor movies and television shows, often presenting or playing herself. She also became a philanthropist, supporting causes that she believed in, such as the American Cancer Society.
She is also a stalwart advocate of equality in all aspects. This includes gay rights, female equality and rights for people of color. In June 2020, Meghan Trainor uploaded an inspirational image and message to Twitter promoting just that.
